Produce from the Back of a Semi Truck

Published by dunappaloosa at 10:13 am under Cooking Edit This

If you have never purchased items from the back of big semi trucks then you are missing out on some really good deals.  In our area if a semi truck breaks down or gets into an accident and is carrying perishable goods, they sell off the items at a really good price. One time we got a large amount of Broccoli all cut up and prepared for serving. We ended up with enough to freeze multiple servings worth.  Another time we got fresh blueberries. Gotta love fresh blueberries in late winter.  Our last haul was some fresh lettuce greens and celery.  Often these items are already packaged for use in a restaurant.

So the next time you see one of those trucks parked by the side of the road, and a sign saying produce for sale, check it out and see what kinds of good food they have.

I usually see them locally near towing yards. Look for where ever the truck or trailer would be towed to after the breakdown or accident.

I laughed out loud at this. I’m sure the driver is just some poor guy who doesn’t want to clean up the mess. But I imagined a “My Cousin Vinny” type scenario.

I see broken down trucks fairly often. I’m sure some of them must carry produce. I’ll take a closer look now.

Use blue painters tape on your sewing machine to mark the seam allowance line. It won’t damage your machine. I left you a longer explanation on my blog, if you are interested. :) I hope your quilt and curtains come out well.
