Crochet Pullover

Published by dunappaloosa at 8:40 pm under Crochet and knitting Edit This

I sat down and crocheted another sweater this weekend. I really love the Lion Brand Watercolors yarn, which unfortunately has been discontinued. I was lucky enough to obtain enough of it for at least two projects.  I just used up 8 balls of the yarn for my new sweater.

I also again modified the pattern I used in my other Crochet Shell Project in order to suit the yarn and the design I wanted.

As the pattern stated, an exact gauge is not required for this project.

My pattern is for a medium size person. It is made with a front and back that are then sewed or crocheted together.

This time I started with a Q hook and chained 38 loose stitches.

Then turn,  switch to a P hook and  half double crochet in the third stitch from the hook and all the way across. Use the P hook for the rest of the project.

I continued to half double crochet every row until the piece is as big as I wanted it.  This turned out to be 36 full rows per side and took four balls of yarn per side. Crochet two pieces exactly the same and then sew together. I sewed about 8 stitches across the top for each shoulder and left the rest for the head opening.  I then left 12 rows for the arm openings and sewed up the sides.

I opened up one last ball of the yarn and joined the yarn at the bottom of one armhole opening. I crocheted a row of shells around the armhole opening on each side and finished off.

I love that yarn. I made hat and scarf and purse sets for both of my granddaughters with it last year.
