I love spring!

Iris buds last week

My Iris are blooming! Beautiful deep purple flowers all over the place. The sage is coming up and looking good. I have dill weed coming up like a “weed”. The dill reseeded itself from last year I didn’t plant any this year. I also have Borage that reseeded itself from last year. I’m really happy that the Borage came up because I really like that plant.  The sun chokes are plugging away and growing taller.

In my regular vegetable garden, the peas and beans are up and running. Spinach, kale and cabbage are starting to appear and the root crops; beets, carrots and parsnips are all emerging nicely.

My three sisters garden is still in the development stage. The corn was planted last week and is beginning to emerge. Next week I’ll plant additional bean seeds around each mound of corn. Then once those start to really get going I’ll add squash seeds around the base of the mounds.  I’m really happy about how well the garden is doing this early for our area. Last year at this time it was still freezing at night and we had snow as late as the first of June. It doesn’t look like we will have that problem this year.
