Been Busy

Well I haven’t been on and posting much recently because of all the extra stuff that comes along with summer. I’ve been really busy in the garden. It’s been raining regularly so I haven’t had to water much, but the down side is the weeds have been attempting a coup to take over the garden.  So I’ve been on a daily weed patrol and still never seem to get caught up.

In addition to the weed patrol, my mare Topper who’s has been injured is now well enough to start riding again. So we’ve been taking it slow and started her out at a walk for awhile to make sure her leg will stand up to the stress. Things are looking good on that front.

My stray dog has a new name. My two year old nephew Christopher told me I should name her Jazzy so that’s now her name. She’s doing well and is now well enough to head off to the vet to be spayed. On a sad note, I had to find a new home for the other dogs. Barretta continued to dig out of her fence then dig into the chicken pen to kill chickens. I lost almost all of the replacement chicks I’d had for this year. Nearly 30 chicks and one turkey and two goslings in all were killed. In addition she also killed 4 adult laying hens, and one rooster and injured three more hens. I was not at all happy. I really like Barretta, but those chickens also were very important for this farm. I’ve sent her off to a home where she won’t be around chickens. It’s better for her.  Rugar went with her because those two have become good friends while they were here and Rugar just won’t accept Jazzy.

Anyway that’s what I’ve been up to lately.
